feed OFF

Hello friends, I would like someone explain to me this OFF here:
'Him and Brownie were meant for each other because of the way they both played: real fast, so they could FEED OFF each other.'
That does mean that they feed each other, that they interacted because were similar in ways?

Thanks in advance, Jo.

It's a metaphor. They are not literally giving food to each other.

Hi,

They feed off each other in this context means that they give each other energy and inspiration. Each person gains, draws energy, from the presence of the other.

Best wishes, Clive
