I don't know if this should irk me or not. Today I received a shipment notification from FedEx, and at the bottom of the notification, they were highlighting their morning delivery service with the tagline "We'll try not to wake you up." I'm nothing near being a perfect grammar checker, and I am sure that I have made more than a few errors even in this post, but regarding the placement of the preposition "to" in regards to the adverb "not," I would think that the sentence would read better as "We'll try to not wake you up."
Am I correct in this thought?
