"February 14th may be an important date to remember for couples to exchange chocolates and cards."
"February 14th may be an important date to remember for couples to exchange chocolates and cards."
I have seen the sentence and I tried to analyze it and I fell into confusion because I feel like it can be two ways like
1) to remember modifies an important date and for couples to exchange... modifies an important date again.
2) for couples to exchange chocolates and cards as one chunk modifies an important date.
Which one is correct or both are okay or only one is natural? What do you think? Thank you so much in advance.

modifies an important date again.
2) to remember for couples to exchange chocolates and cards as one chunk modifies an important date .
I think you meant to include "to remember" in 2).
I find that both analyses are plausible, though when I read the sentence, I find myself gravitating toward analysis 1).
