Fear in the Workplace

This was a poem I made 2 years ago, when my boss fired 5 employees at once:

Back then, I never thought that I would be using this
But now, the circumstance has changed
Well, this is just the true nature of humankind
I have gotten used to it
This world full of facade and mask
And being the real me
is weird
But this is the real me
I'm childish, yeah I know
I am well aware of it
However I don't want to be fake
So don't wonder if I laugh too much
That's just my way of dealing with the tough life
Laughing at my own stupidity
Laughing at my own misfortunates
Life is so hard I'll just laugh it off! Emotion: big smile
And even if someday I'll get called out
following our fallen comrades
I will try not to cry
I will just bow my head and smile
no, even laugh
while saying goodbye to my friends
waving my hand to the people behind me

Oh, and if the one reading this is curious
to what I referred to in the first line
Don't think too much about it
It's just my other mechanical pencil
whose color is yellow/gold/orange/whatever
Hahaha...
Gotcha...! Emotion: big smile

It's only problem is that it is not a poem. It would make a good paragraph, though.

Umm... Ummm... But I intended it as a poem... Or is it a poetry?

You can use either term, but I am curious as to to why you think it is a poem and not simply prose broken into arbitrary lines.

This proves that my poetic skill is really low. What does count as a poem, anyway?

Ah, that is the million-dollar question! Being old-fashioned, I look for some internal rhythm at least (and I do appreciate some subtle rhyme if it comes along), but really all that is necessary is deft use of words and grammar that match the mood and intent of creating an emotional effect in the reader. To me, poetry is painting a picture in the mind with words.
