Vocabulary

fear

Hello,
Would it be okay if I use "fear" in collocation with "arouse/cause/generate? As in: "The disturbing TV broadcast aroused/caused/generated a lot of fear in the small town." Fear could be spread which is probably most common. I was thinking of "produce", but I decided to write it off. What works and what doesn't?

Thank you
