Favour against somebody or something

Hello,

What does it mean to show favour against one group of people or one opinion for personal reasons?

I have no questions about showing favour towards somebody, but I was confused by 'against'.

Thanks

I am not confused, but it is a very poor formation. It means to show favour for/towards the opposite group or opinion, I presume.
