FASTING

What is the different between" fasting" and "let go gas"? I was confused when I heard someone said fasting instead of let go gas. Can I have an example sentence on this?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Iris

You've got the wrong word there. Farting = letting go of gas Fasting = deliberately not eating (usually for religious purposes).

Farting = letting go of gas

Fasting = deliberately not eating (usually for religious purposes).

Not fasting (which means 'consciously not eating for an extended period'), but f arting, which is the same as passing gas, though not so polite. I would suggest you stick to 'passing gas' in conversation.

PS: Sorry for the duplication, Nona.

Thanks Mister Micawber. I got it. Can I say as below:

Are you passing gas, my son? / Are you letting go gas, my son?

If it's your son you're speaking to, then you can freely use 'f art'-- but I suggest the past tense; the action is too fast to employ the present continuous...I hope, for your sake.

'Break wind' is another polite synonym. I haven't heard 'letting go gas', but maybe Nona has.

Oh, there are a LOT of ways to say this. I find it at least a little amusing that both Nona and Mr. M were on this one so quickly

Why, whatever do you mean, GG? The thread is entitled 'Fasting'-- I was concerned about the poster's health and wished to warn hem of the nutritional dangers involved!
