Faster than anyone else

Are these sentences correct:

1) He ran rapidly, faster than anyone else.

2) He spoke rapidly, with such haste that showed he was afraid of something.

I would insert a dash in place of the comma. There needs to be a definite pause in thought.

It may be acceptable to some. I find that there should be "it" inserted after "that" to define
