Fast, not strong

a. He chose me because I am fast, not strong.

Does this mean I am not strong?
Maybe I am not strong. He chose me because I am fast.
Maybe I am strong, but he chose me because I am fast.

My feeling is that (a) is something you would say to someone who has said: He chose you because you are strong.
(a) seems to be contradicting something that has already been said.

Many thanks.
