Far too

I am uncertain about the meaning of the phrase "far too"... It doesn't appear in dictionaries as a phrase, but I suppose it means "excessively" or even simply "too". I am right?
Thanks in advance

"far too" = "much too" = informally, "way too"

Suppose a jar of coffee normally costs $7.50.

You go to a supermarket and find that the price today is $9.90.
You say, "That's too expensive".

If, instead, you found the price to be $19.49, you might say, "That's [far / much / way] too expensive".
