Fantastic VS. fantastical. Histortic VS. historical

Hello, although I do not intend to blame anything about English, I have found a kind of illogical thing in English. Could you tell me whether it is right or not?

Fantastic VS. fantastical. Histortic VS. historical

I know all languages consist of logical and illogical parts and I just would like to know if what I know is correct.

I think the meaning of fantastic and fantastical is the same and interchangeable but that of historic and historical is kind of different and not interchangeable. So we can not say "-ic and -cal" is always the same. Am I right?

Learning English is really hard but worth it. Please help me out again. Thank you in advance as usual.
