Hi,

Something's wrong with this sentence. But I don't really know how to classify it. I've looked through my reference book (Swan) completely, but so far I haven't been able to find anything.

5. Fans want to have everything that had belonged to their favourites because this is a way to feel themselves closer to them.

Any ideas, anyone?

Thank you in advance!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's odd to feel oneself closer : you feel closer to something, but you don't feel yourself closer to something. Why had belonged ? Why not simply belonged ?

Still sounds a little strange to me.

I'm not so sure, but see if this sounds better:

Fans like possessing their favourites' belongings because it gives them a sense of being closer to their favourites.
