fancy doing sth

In our English class a student and a teacher are having a discussion about the expression "fancy doing sth". One of them says this phrase is old-fashioned and out-dated. The other says it is still in use. We're learning British English at school. Who is right? Can you help out?.

I am a speaker of British English, and I use it. I told you that in another forum, as did another speaker of British English. The language does not change in a week or so.

Thanks. That's right. I'm trying to reach as many people as possible and I'm glad for anyone else who will confirm your answer.

Though I am an American, I have heard speakers of British English use that expression, even quite recently, so I doubt that it is old-fashioned and out-dated. (Americans do not use the expression, however.)
