Would you fancy to go for a walk in the rain? Could we replace fancy with like?

Well, you can choose between:
1. fancy going
2. like to go

but not fancy to go. (Jeez, English must be a horrible language to learn; you have my sympathies.) "Fancy" is not a modal verb and so cannot take an infinitive.
