Fanart / artwork

Hello,

I personally use the word "fanart" to refer to the sort of arts that people do of fictional characters (for example, drawings of cartoon characters)
Is it acceptable/correct that I call them "fanart"?
If yes, does it count as fanart if people do other kind of arts of fictional characters rather than drawings?
What is the actual difference between "fanart" and "artwork"?

Thanks.

Karen51 I personally use the word "fanart" to refer to the sort of arts that people do of fictional characters You can use it if the artists did not create the characters or stories. Actual artists created the original works, and the fan artists are doing their own art based on the original. org/wiki/Fan_art Fan art or fanart are artworks created by fans of a work of fiction (generally visual media such as comics, movies, television shows, or video games) and derived from a character or other aspect of that work.
