Hi.In:My family was separated by the Korean War, and I was born and raised in South Korea.1-Why did she say "My family" not "our family"?2-What does family mean here?3-How exactly was it separated?Thanks in advance

'my family' and 'our family' refer to the same thing. It's your choice which you want to use.

It means just what it always means when taken literally. It means just what the dictionary says it means. It's a group of people genetically related to each other, typically a mother, a father, their children, possibly their parents, uncles, aunts, and cousins, etc.

Exactly? How would we know that? You'd have to read the whole story of their family and what happened to them during that war in Korea.

In any case, knowing that the war was between North Korea and South Korea, we can assume that some of the members of the family ended up in North Korea and other members of the family ended up in South Korea. Now they never see each other anymore.
