Actually, what I want to know is the difference between #2 and #3. So, I posted both of them to compare one to the other. However, as you pointed, #2 is not necessary.

Then, do both of "I am going to go fishing with my friends this weekend'" and "I am going fishing with my friends this weekend" sound natural?
