Would they all fit the sentences below and what would be the differences in meaning in your opinion? Here they are:
- The statement you just made is utterly false/incorrect/wrong.
- Predictions of an early improvement in the housing market proved false/incorrect/wrong.
- She gave false/incorrect/wrong information to the insurance company. - I would use false and I can see the difference between them here.
- We usually say that an answer's wrong or incorrect. Can we also use false in this collocation?
I think they all fit the first sentence and I think they would be about the same. If something we say is false, it is wrong or incorrect.
I don't know why, but I don't think "wrong" fits the second sentence.
