[false words] or [false statements] as a substitute for lies

I have made up the sentences below.

(1) I am upset about you for believing his lies. (my original word choice: lies)

(2) I am upset about you for believing his false words.

(3) I am upset about you for believing his false statements.

Is it okay to use either "false words" or "false statements" as a substitute for "lies"? Thanks.
