Fall or falls? lift or lifts?

Hello,

I wonder why these verbs to fall and to lift are put in the plural (in this verse in the song "Hallelujah"). I think they must be in the singular because of their subjects ("the minor", and "the major"), which are in the singular. Please let me know if I am wrong. Thank you for your help!

Well I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift --->(the minor falls, the major lifts)???
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
