Fall off area

Change the target color from Master to Reds or Blue (doesn't matter just as long as its not on Master) Then move your cursor over the image, you will see it turn into an eyedropper icon. Clicking on the targeted area will load the color you are trying to adjust, you will see the indicator move to that part of the spectrum at the bottom of the dialog box. The indicator can be adjusted to refine the fall off area of the adjustment. Moving the Hue, Sat slides now will only affect that color.

Please explain to me what fall off area means here.
