Fall off and drop off

Hi, there! I have a little question. I wonder the difference between fall off and drop off and I want you to comment the following example:

Sales have fallen off by 13 percent in the last year

And the question why shouldn't i use to drop off, cause it has the same meaning "to decrease" or I'm mistaken?

Best regards,

Tatyana

Depending on whether you are describing a trend or a pair of data points, I would suggest the following: This describes a trend for the last 12 months. " The following compares sales from this time last year to sales now. " Regards, Cay
