Hi,

Does break my fall mean "hurt me" e.g. "hurt my feelings" ? Definitely not.

Here's an example.

I fall off the roof of a 10 floor building.
I'm going to die when I hit the ground.
But I fall into a tree. I
Its branches slow me, and reduce the impact of my fall.

The tree 'broke my fall'.

Does break my fall mean "hurt me"
It means pretty much the opposite. If something "breaks your fall" it prevents you from impacting with the full force you would otherwise have experienced, thus reducing or eliminating any pain or injury.

Hi, Clive

Thanks! I understood it. So, I suppose that it is also the meaning in this lyrics, isn't it?

"... Suppose I never ever saw you
Suppose we never ever called
Suppose I kept on singing love songs just to break my own fall
Just to break my fall..."
