Faith befits the simple-hearted

Can anyone please explain the meaning of this sentence?

"Faith befits the simple-hearted"

I did check dictionaries and know the meaning of the words but cannot quite understand the idea of the sentence (it is related to the bible).

Thank you.

Anonymous the meaning of this sentence Faith befits the simple-hearted . It strikes me like this: Religious belief is suitable for people who are not very sophisticated. The context would make clearer whether "simple-hearted" is meant to be a positive or negative quality, but in this isolated sentence, it appears to be positive to my ear.

Thanks.

You mean intellectually sophisticated, right?

But not necessarily “mentally impaired”, right? (don’t know if “mentally impaired” is correct?)

I mean, “simple hearted” is not the same as “simple minded” right?
