fair/light fur

I can say that somebody has fair hair, but can I use the same adjective when I want to refer to an animal's fur, if not what adjective should I use instead (maybe light?)
thanks in advance

I don't think most people would refer to an animal as having "fair fur". I'd say it would be more common to use the word 'light' and/or the specific color: - white - albino - light brown - gray etc.
