A crisis after another is hitting the American society. First the credit crises caused many Americans to be homeless. Then, the flooding in the Midwest and now, banks are going out of business. (Is going out of business the same as fail - failed bank?)

(Is going out of business the same as fail - failed bank?-- 'Going out of business' is somewhat euphemistic. I would choose 'failing'.
