Factory VS plant

What is the difference between factory and plant?

Top answer

In the UK a plant produces or processes power (a power plant) and a factory manufactures. I believe this to be different in the US and so I am unsure what the difference is there.

In the US, if there are differences between a factory and a manufacturing plant, which is often simply called "a plant" for short, I don't know what they are.

We do have power plants as well, of course.

A plant is a place where the form of input we give and the output we get is totally different.both physically and chemically.

For example, thermal power plant.we use coal as the input and we get electricity as the output.

A factory is a place where we use raw materials to produce a desirable product.the form of both input and output is not that different.
