Facing the engine? Mean anything in America or England?

I have to sit facing the engine or else I get sick.

The train I had in mind has one engine in the last car (only used when the train is going in the other direction) and one engine in the first car. In this case the person is traveling in the last car and wants to find a seat that is facing the direction the train is going [in].
If this is the case, how would you say?

many thanks

Hi, In Britain, such a statement would be understood with no problem. If you have doubts, you could just say 'I have to sit facing forwards or else I get sick'. Clive
