eyes/eye

Dear members

"When you see something, your eyes send the information to your brain, and your brain understands it as an image. The image stays a little longer in the brain that in the eye."

I read sentences above in a textbook, but I guess that the last of words 'eye' should be 'eyes'.

 Am I right?

Thanks in advance.
