Eyes crinkled

Hello!

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with the meaning of the following sentence from an english novel I'm currently reading:
His eyes crinkled worriedly.

It is the "eyes crinkled" part I have trouble with. I have looked up the word "crinkled" and it means "to form wrinkles". I can understand this if you say for example - He crinkled his nose in disgust - but I don't understand how the eyes can form wrinkles.

It means the person did the sort of squint that persons do when they are worried, causing wrinkles in the skin around the eyes and probably also in the forehead. It isn't talking about the eyeballs. It is talking about the skin around the eyes.

We may understand what the writer is trying to say, but the writer is using poor grammar to say it. Also, the addition of the adverb "worriedly" is giving the reader an extra clue, just i
