Eye or eyes

differences?when to use?

got confused. we say "catch my eye"but "rivet my eyes",yes?so why?

No reason. That is just the way we say it in certain fixed expressions and not the other way. There are lots of things like that:

turn one's hand to

have an ear for

set foot in

put tooth to

etc.
