Extrapolate

Hi,

Would you ever use the word ‘extrapolate’ in a normal conversation with a friend or perhaps with a teacher?

For instance

-> to a teacher “When we look at the data set, we can extrapolate the frequency of the individual variables.”

-> to a friend “When you look at how other families behave when they are staring down the barrel of a divorce, you can extrapolate how people usually handle these things.”

Thank you.
