Extraordinary reproduction

Hi

As Wrangham and Peterson write, “Males have evolved to possess strong appetites for power because with extraordinary power males can achieve extraordinary reproduction.”

--- Does it mean that males wanted power because the more powerful they were they could multiply more?

By the way, how do you understand: Males have evolved to possess strong appetites for power ...

Does it say that men (over time) developed a characteristic and this characteristic was their desire to have appetite for power?

Thanks

desire is appetite, so you are saying the same thing twice: desire to have appetite ~ desire to have desire ~ appetite to have appetite

But you've got the main idea.

It says that men (over evolutionary time) developed in such a way that they (on the average) (eventually) came to have a strong desire for power ...
