Expression: Do the needful

Hi

Would you say that native speakers use the expression "Please do the needful" in their drafting etc? Here in Pakistan, we use:

Please do the needful

Please do the required.

I hope you will shed some light on this.

Indian and Pakistani English speakers-- some of which, I presume, are included in 'native speakers'-- use this phrase, but it is not used in other varieties of English.

Thanks, MM. Could you please tell me a more natural phrase (for drafting purpose) than these ones?

When I am editing students' letters, I simply delete the phrase; AmE does not normally express this overtly; the letter itself is a statement of what is requested. I would have to see specific cases before I could suggest an alternative if needed.
