Expression: Close your legs.

Hi

If someone is standing or sitting with legs so apart that it looks bad -- will/would the expression work?

(Teacher to student)

Close your legs, John.

(During some kind of physical training) Trainer to student

Raise your arms; close your legs a bit. Now start...

Thanks,

Tom

PS: will is more natural or would?

I think I would say "put your legs/feet together" rather than "close your legs". You can use either "will" or "would" in that context.

In the US (GPY is British), the phrase "close your legs" has obscene implications. Better to say, in this context, something like: "put your feet closer/more together."

I doubt there are any differences in the connotations between the US and the UK. In the UK it might also have such connotations, depending on the context and the mind of the listener.
