expressing an idea

Dear all.
Context:
It was raining on the way to my office. A call from the office.
Why are you being late? I answered, I was stuck in the rain.
Is it correct or not, or other expression?
Thank you.

Top answer

To be stuck implies being at a stand-still, moviing very little if at all. I think a better response is I was slowed down by the rain.
