how are u? i have a question about to expression compound number in english

1)one hundred and twenty-three thousand, four hundred and fifty-six dollars and seventy-eight cents or 2)one hundred and twenty-three thousand, four hundred and fifty-six dollars seventy-eight cents.

I would agree with Pemmican. In written English maybe number one is better, but in spoken English both are ok.

One of the differences between American English and British English is when saying numbers:

In American English: 2004 = two thousand four.
In British English: 2004 = two thousand and four.

Is this correct? Any American out there to say if I am mistaken?
