Exposing / Revealing

Hello.
I would like to know if there is any difference between exposing and revealing.

For example.

She pulled up her skirt, exposing the scar on her leg.

She pulled up her skirt, revealing the scar on her leg.

Thank you.

The literal meaning of both words is similar. There may be a difference in tone or in underlying meaning. Expose is often used for something that is shameful.

I also think you could think of a difference of explosing something you already know exists, while reveal can make something known for the first time.

On the other hand, we talk about a dress that is a bit too revealing, and having ******* is neither extraordinary nor unexpected
