explicit?

I have a problem with a word. I don't understand the meaning of "explicit" in this sentence. I think explicit is an noun, here, but I can't understand its meaning. Can you help me?

As a result of the controversy, the film was at least initially constructed as ‘explicit’ (a small genre in itself) and had a recognizable name even before release.

The word, "explicit" is usually an adjective. Rather than list the examples available in previous posts here, I'll ask that you type "explicit" in the Help box at the top of this page and press Enter. It means "clearly" or without doubt.
