Explanation on breaking the balance

Hey guys, if you are purchasing something in a convenience store, and you want the cashier to return back the balance in one dollar coin, (Example: the price of the drink is 2 dollars, you pay in 5 dollars note and you want the balance to be in coins) What is the right word for it? Can i say, "Could you give me the balance in one dollar coin?"
