expiry expiration

They are the same word but what the differences in using them?
Can I both say expiry date and expiration date???
confused ...

I would say "expiry date". For me, "expiration" seems a much less common word. However, as far as I can tell from Internet search results, there is a difference in usage between AmE and BrE.

I would say "expiry date". For me, "expiration" seems a much less common word. However, as far as I can tell from Internet search results, there is a difference in usage between AmE and BrE. In AmE "expiration" seems to dominate, while in BrE it is the other way round. (I am a BrE speaker.)
