Hi

The word "purge" is OK here but, alternatively..

- To make the fridge more efficient, please regularly dispose of expired food

Expired sounds like it was alive and then died.

To keep the fridge clean and sanitary, we must discard any food which is mouldy, rancid or has spoiled.

To avoid any possible confusion in the use of "expired" you could say "purge any food that's past its expiration date."

You might also consider saying "dispose of" or "discard" instead of "purge."
