Expect to vs expect you to

Hi.

How can I use 'expect' to convey my meaning grammatically correct:

1-"I didn't expect to see you in such a place"
2-"I didn't expect you to be seen in such a place"

I think #2 is grammatically correct, but it seems awkward to me!

would you please offer me other ways to make the expression with 'expect'?

Persian Learner I think #2 is grammatically correct, but it seems awkward to me! It is not awkward if used appropriately, but it has a different meaning. 1-"I didn't expect to see you in such a place" = I was surprised to see you there.
