Exist along a single continuum
Hi guys,
In our view, marketing and selling exist along a single continuum designed to connect a company (the vendor) with buyers and cus tomers.
Could you please explain the usage of "along" a little? I can understand the whole sentence literally, but the way "along" works here is ambiguous to me. Is it interchangeable with "as" in the case?

Think of a continuum as a line, in this context. Now think of buying and selling as two different points as you move your attention 'along the same line'.
The idea is that they are closely related activities of the same kind.
