Exhibited lots of animated funny animals

I have made up the example using "exhibit" below.

(1) Last Friday night, John heard me laughing from the living room when he was in his bedroom upstairs. The next day, when he asked me what was so funny, I said, "The TV talk show exhibited lots of animated funny animals on the screen."

Is it correct to use the word "exhibited"? If not, what word(s) would fit better? Thanks a lot for your time and help.
