Hello. I am writing a short literature review in a paper. In cases like the one below, both the past and the present can be used? Both tenses are correct?
Gray's (1990) results provide additional support for this hypothesis: in a sample of 40 poems, only 4 EXHIBIT/EXHIBITED (?) a high degree of incoherence.
On the one hand, the poems' features will not change; therefore, it seems fair to use the present. On the other hand, the past may fit better because Gray's study is finished.
