Dear teachers,
Could a mother / father say like this in a letter to be sent to the teacher requesting him to allow his/her son to be absent from school?:

Dear Mr,
Please excuse John from/for having been absent for two days now.John has been ill for two days now. Tomorrow he will come back to school and I will ask him to make up all the work missed during the time he is absent/during his absence
