Excluding American english

Please, give me some hints about how to avoid using american-english in my texts. It has always been my intention to write (and talk) in real english (the British one), but it seems to be more and more difficult to do so, as long as the world becomes more and more americanized.

Both dialects are constantly evolving and borrowing from each other. While "Americanization" (Brit. : "Americanisation") gets the most press, American English is also adopting British spellings, idioms, etc.
