excitement and enthusiasm

I’m having difficulty understanding enthusiasm and excitement. Please explain them and define them in simpler words. I want to understand the following meanings. Enthusiasm: a strong feeling of excitement and interest in something and a desire to become involved in it. Excitement: the state of feeling excited. Excited: feeling or showing happiness and enthusiasm. These meanings are form oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com. I don’t understand the way it is defined. Enthusiasm is ‘a lot of excitement…’ and excitement is ‘enthusiasm…’.

The only solid difference I can think of is that 'enthusiasm' is always positive (unless sarcastic), whereas 'excitement' is neutral.
