1-He was excited to go there.
2-He was excited to be going there.
In which case:
a-He was going there then.
and in which:
b-He was going to go there.

3-He was excited to have a daughter.
4-He was excited to be having a daughter.
In which case:
c-He had a daughter then
and in which
d-He was going to have a daughter.
